Join Planina for an unplugged, informal house concert of just over one hour featuring the holiday songs we love and usually get to perform only once a year. They include Christmas and winter-themed songs from Belarus, Georgia, Hungary, Lithuania, Russia, and Ukraine, a New Year’s song from Croatia, and a Latvian winter solstice song based in ancient ritual.
We’re envisioning this as a relaxed concert — the kind we might perform in a living room — and in that spirit we will serve hot spiced cider and holiday treats made by members of Planina. In Eastern Europe, Old New Year (New Year’s Day in the Julian calendar) is celebrated on January 14, and up through that day the holidays are still in full swing. So even if you think you’ve had your fill of holiday cheer for this season, we hope you’ll consider coming to this very special evening.
